On being emotional

A great quote from this morning’s devotional:

Christian maturity is not about reducing the highs and lows of emotions to a level plane, but of feeling deeply in a godly way. The issue is not how or what we feel, but what we do with our emotions.

The passage coupled with that study was Psalm 35.

It’s a relief to know that as Christians we don’t have to be completely void when it comes to showing emotions. More importantly, when we do get “emotional” how and where we place our feelings is where we need to keep ourselves in check.

On the subject of Love

I was listening to Love Isn’t Made from Jon Foreman’s Summer EP on my way to work today. The chorus reads:

So I arrive
At the conclusion
Love isn’t made
Love doesn’t sell or pay
But we buy and sell
Our love away

I was caught up in these words.

We end up “buying and selling” our love so often. Love isn’t something we can just make or earn. Whether you like it or not, you are loved and deeply so. Yet, we treat love as if it’s an object that we can trade and barter. Maybe our view of love is skewed. Whatever it is, love shouldn’t be something that’s fickle and passed around like a fruitcake. Love should static, strong and more consistent than our world portrays it to be.

So what is Love? Does it get passed around like a recycled gift? Or is it something that’s cherished and treasured?
